Galvalume steel coil, also known as aluminum zinc steel coil, is a coated steel product that combines the corrosion resistance of aluminum and the electroplating protection of zinc. Aluminum zinc coated steel is made by coating a mixture of aluminum, zinc, and silicon on a steel substrate. The coating is carried out through a continuous hot dip process, in which the steel coil is immersed in a molten bath of the coating material.

 

The coating composition is usually composed of approximately 55% aluminum, 43.5% zinc, and 1.5% silicon. The combination of aluminum and zinc has excellent corrosion resistance, as both metals have inherent protective properties. Aluminum provides a self-healing mechanism, forming a thin and transparent oxide layer to prevent further corrosion, while zinc acts as a sacrificial anode to protect the steel below from rusting.

 

Galvalume steel coils are widely used in the construction industry for roofs, cladding, and other applications that require corrosion-resistant and durable materials.
