CORROSION RESISTANCE
Broad Corrosion Resistance: Possesses corrosion resistance substantially equivalent to MONEL alloy 400 across numerous environments.
Key Consideration: In the age-hardened condition, may have a greater tendency for stress-corrosion cracking (SCC) in some specific environments; expert consultation for application-specific review is recommended.
Proven Sour-Gas Resistance: Demonstrates excellent resistance to sulfide stress cracking, with no failure observed in age-hardened U-bend specimens after prolonged exposure to saturated H₂S solutions (3500 ppm) from pH 1.0 to 11.0.
Ideal for High-Flow Seawater: The combination of high strength and minimal corrosion in high-velocity seawater makes it the material of choice for marine pump shafts and other critical rotating components.
Stagnant Seawater Behavior: While initial fouling and pitting may occur in stagnant or low-velocity conditions, the pitting rate slows significantly after the initial attack, preserving component integrity.
