5454 aluminum is a non-heat-treatable wrought aluminum-magnesium-manganese alloy. It provides a practical combination of medium strength, corrosion resistance, weldability and formability.
The alloy is widely used for road tankers, liquid storage tanks, pressure vessels, welded structures and transportation equipment. It is particularly suitable for buyers who require a stronger material than general-purpose 5052 while maintaining reliable forming and welding performance.
5454 aluminum obtains higher strength through strain hardening rather than heat treatment. It is therefore supplied in tempers such as O, H111, H22, H32 and H34, depending on the required balance between formability and strength.
EN AW-5454 is identified as an AlMg3Mn alloy. Published material data lists magnesium at 2.4–3.0% and manganese at 0.50–1.0%, supporting its characteristic strength, weldability and corrosion performance.

Why Buyers Choose 5454 Aluminum
Reliable Performance for Tanker Fabrication
5454 is widely selected for tanker shells, tank heads, baffles and related welded components that require strength, corrosion resistance and formability.
Good Weldability
The alloy can be welded using suitable MIG or TIG procedures. Correct filler selection, joint preparation and heat input control remain important for obtaining reliable welded structures.
Good Corrosion Resistance
5454 performs well in atmospheric, industrial and transportation environments. Actual suitability must be evaluated according to the stored medium, operating temperature and cleaning process.
Medium Strength with Good Formability
O, H111 and softer work-hardened tempers are suitable for deeper forming, while H32 and H34 provide higher strength for structural panels and tank components.
Suitable for Welded Structures
Because5454 is a non-heat-treatable alloy, it is frequently used where extensive welding and forming are required.
Multiple Supply Forms
Sheet, plate, coil and cut-to-size blanks can be supplied according to the fabrication route and project drawing.
