UNS C17510 Beryllium Copper Alloy (CuNi2Be / Alloy 3)

UNS C17510 Beryllium Copper Alloy (also known as CuNi2Be or Alloy 3) is a high-strength, high-conductivity copper alloy containing beryllium and nickel. It offers an exceptional combination of mechanical strength, electrical conductivity, and thermal stability, making it one of the most advanced copper alloys available for aerospace, electronics, oil & gas, and precision tooling applications.

Manufactured in compliance with ASTM B196, B197, B441, and RWMA Class 3, C17510 is the ideal material for welding electrodes, connectors, switches, and high-load springs. It retains its strength and conductivity even after prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q1: What is the difference between C17510 and C17200 Beryllium Copper?
A1: C17510 contains nickel and has higher conductivity but slightly lower strength than C17200. C17200 is stronger but less conductive.

Q2: Can C17510 be heat treated?
A2: Yes, it is supplied in a solution-annealed condition and then aged (AT) to achieve peak strength.

Q3: Is C17510 suitable for welding electrodes?
A3: Absolutely. It's the standard RWMA Class 3 alloy for resistance welding electrodes and holders.

Q4: What is its maximum operating temperature?
A4: Continuous service temperature is approximately 315°C (600°F).

Q5: Can it be machined easily?
A5: Yes. Machinability is good in the heat-treated condition and excellent when annealed.

Q6: Is C17510 non-magnetic?
A6: Yes, it's non-magnetic and non-sparking, suitable for sensitive environments.

Q7: What surface finishes are available?
A7: Bright drawn, polished, machined, and pickled finishes.

Q8: Are third-party inspections available?
A8: Yes, SGS, BV, TUV, and Intertek inspections are available upon request.

Q9: Can I order custom-cut sizes?
A9: Yes, we supply custom lengths, widths, and tempers according to your specifications.

Q10: What is the typical lead time?
A10: Usually 10–20 working days, depending on quantity and form.
