What Is C17200 Beryllium Copper?
C17200 is a wrought copper-beryllium alloy containing approximately 1.8% to 2.0% beryllium. It develops its highest mechanical properties through precipitation hardening and can achieve strength and hardness levels comparable with many steels while retaining better electrical and thermal conductivity than conventional high-strength steels.
The alloy is commonly selected for components that must combine several properties rather than maximize only one property:
High tensile and yield strength
Excellent spring and fatigue performance
Good resistance to wear and galling
Useful electrical and thermal conductivity
Good corrosion resistance
Low magnetic permeability
Good dimensional stability after suitable heat treatment
Suitability for precision forming and machining under controlled conditions
Peak-aged Alloy 25 can exceed 200 ksi or approximately 1380 MPa tensile strength, with hardness approaching HRC 45 and electrical conductivity around 22% IACS or higher, depending on product form and condition.

| Cold-Worked and Aged, TH01–TH04 | Very high strength and hardness | Springs, contacts, wear parts and highly loaded components |
| Mill-Hardened, TM Conditions | Controlled properties supplied by the mill | Precision strip parts where post-forming heat treatment is undesirable |
Temper codes and available mechanical properties depend on product form and applicable specification. Always identify the required temper on the inquiry and purchase order.

Why Buyers Select C17200 Alloy 25
High Strength with Useful Conductivity
C17200 provides substantially higher strength than conventional copper alloys while maintaining useful electrical and thermal conductivity. It is therefore suitable for load-bearing electrical contacts, current-carrying springs and high-performance connector components.
Excellent Fatigue and Spring Performance
The combination of high yield strength, elastic performance and stress-relaxation resistance makes C17200 suitable for repeated-load springs, diaphragms, clips, retaining rings and precision contact parts.
Wear and Galling Resistance
Age-hardened C17200 offers good wear resistance and resistance to adhesive seizure. Common mechanical applications include bushings, bearings, valve components, wear plates and heavily loaded moving parts.
Non-Magnetic Performance
Its low magnetic permeability makes C17200 suitable for instrument housings, measurement equipment, downhole tools and components operating near magnetic sensing systems.
Flexible Property Control
The alloy can be supplied in formable solution-treated conditions, cold-worked conditions, precipitation-hardened conditions or mill-hardened strip conditions. This allows buyers to select the required balance between formability, final strength and conductivity.
