Production Procedure of Electrogalvanized Steel Coil/Sheets
Color coated galvanized steel coil are mainly used as raw materials for such products. Hot-rolled and cold-rolled coils can be painted without a metal coating; however, in this case, the resistance of the product to atmospheric corrosion is low.
The key steps in the production of pre-painted coils include:
Raw material preparation:
Cold rolled steel coils: Select high-quality cold rolled steel coils as the substrate, which need to have good mechanical properties and surface finish.
Cleaning and pretreatment:
Degreasing: Remove grease, dirt and other impurities from the surface of the steel coils by chemical or electrolytic methods to ensure the adhesion of the zinc coating.
Pickling: Remove scale and rust from the surface of the steel coils with acidic solutions.
Water washing: The pickled steel coils are thoroughly washed with water to ensure that no acidic substances are left.
Passivation treatment: In some cases, passivation treatment is performed to further improve the activity of the substrate surface.
Electrogalvanizing:
Electrolytic cell: The pretreated steel coils are fed into the electrolytic cell, which contains a zinc salt solution (such as zinc sulfate).
Electroplating process: The zinc ions are reduced from the solution and deposited on the surface of the steel coils by passing an electric current, forming a uniform zinc coating. The current density and time during this process control the thickness and uniformity of the galvanized layer.
